The topsheet of the Spinlord Irbis II is identical to that of the Irbis: it is medium-hard, highly grippy, and very elastic.
However, the sponge is noticeably harder and faster. With a hardness rating of approx. 44–46, it is classified as medium-hard. Furthermore, without the need for "factory tuning," it offers an integrated speed-glue effect that is even more powerful than the sponge found in the Irbis.
Like the Irbis, the Irbis II generates a surprising amount of spin, though not quite as much as tacky rubbers.
In return, it possesses the power needed for a direct offensive game, featuring counter-attacks and forceful smashes. It is also far better suited for wrist-based play than the Irbis.
Consequently, the Irbis II is an elastic, medium-hard offensive rubber, ideal for a European-style powerful topspin game that prioritizes speed over spin.
That said, the Irbis II does not quite reach the speed and elasticity levels of the fastest rubbers on the market today, though it is not significantly slower either.
On the other hand, it excels in terms of control. For such a fast rubber, the Irbis II is quite easy to handle; therefore—unlike harder offensive rubbers from other manufacturers—it is also suitable for players at lower competitive levels.
With an approximate weight of 75g (across all sponge thicknesses) for the uncut sheet—which has generous dimensions of 17.1 x 17.1 cm—the Irbis II is heavier than average. For this reason, it is recommended to pair it with lighter blades or a lightweight backhand rubber (such as a rubber made from special materials).
