SpinLord Quokka is completely different from the Sandwind or the Giant. For one thing, it's a bit faster and therefore unusually fast for an anti (the rubber package says speed 6, but we're now upgrading the rubber to 7). At the same time, the anti-effect effect is also significantly stronger. The Quokka certainly doesn't reinvent the anti-play genre, but it usefully complements it and also allows for effective anti-play with plastic balls.
Quokka is an offensive and versatile rubber, not a defensive rubber. Therefore, the medium hardness sponge (hardness approx. 42 - 44 degrees) is not a shock-absorbing sponge, but rather a classic offensive sponge with a strong catapult without built-in quick glue effect. It is best comparable to Friendship's discontinued Red Magic sponge, but comes from another manufacturer.
The topsheet is extremely slow, even slower than the Gigant or Lion Mantlet because it is designed to be a little softer. It is very slim and has long inward facing knobs. However, it is not very elastic. The surface is sanded, but there is still some grip left.
The special playing characteristics of the Quokka result from the combination of the extremely slow top rubber with the fairly fast sponge. This makes the Quokka more unpredictable than conventional antis, especially with plastic balls, especially since the flight curve of the ball is difficult to predict even in a game without rotation. The Quokka is not only almost unbeatable in the blocking game, but is also ideal for effective attacks on the opponent's empty balls. Of course, it is not so intended for topspin, but it allows you to counter, shoot or simply “push” almost all balls with a short movement of the wrist. Backspin balls are also possible without problems, but they are not as toxic as those with a sticky, spiked inner surface.
