Table tennis rubbers

These ping pong rubbers are designed for defensive players, who play on cut balls. Some players also use them for attacking games where the ball has a destabilising trajectory that is very annoying for the opponent. The long pimples give the ball a lot of spin. The longer and thinner they are, the harder they are to control, but the more they annoy the opponent.

They are not widely used. They are chosen by players who tend to play close to the table, with not very strong attacking strokes.

These table tennis rubbers are 100% attacking. However, some defensive players use them to defend from behind the table. They make it easier to vary the spin and combine it with attacking shots. Short pimples rubbers are used to hit the ball with flat and fast strokes, with aggressive blocks that send the ball a little bit with a cut effect to the opponent. The disadvantages of these short pimples rubbers are that they give less spin for top spin (only to bring up cut balls). We can differentiate between different types of short pimples, depending on their width and length. The wider and shorter pimples are easier to control, although they have less cutting effect on the blocks.

These rubbers provide slowness and do not give spin to the ball. They are used because they help to control the opponent's attacks, as they stop the ball and return it with a "destabilising" trajectory.
